Once a boy of about eighteen months or so many parents feel that they should be ready to use the toilet themselves. While many parents have successfully teach their children how to take care of business all on their own at this age and in some cases even at a younger age, the truth is that many boys are all just not ready. Most parents have to put up with all the expense and frustration of stinky diapers for a whole lot more.

When your child starts to become aware and a little self-consciousness of a dirty diaper and begins to understand what it is that someone else is doing in the bathroom is a time begin to test the waters so to speak. At the beginning, you can plan for a large number of false starts, some success, and a lot of frustration. The main point is not to get discouraged.

Many boys are not one hundred percent in that department until at least three years experience and own authors with their own children for nearly five years. This does not mean that there is no reason to start toilet training your child at an early age, because even a ten or twenty percent improvement saves a lot of time and money, especially if it takes a total of a couple of years for them to get it right.

There are a variety of approaches you can take when your child is ready to potty train from a small candy or deal with all the best and of course praise and encouragement for a job well done to let choose their own big boy underwear when you take them.
